Bye Bye laptop

October 3, 2008

Looks like I won’t be updating till tomorrow. My laptop went yesterday and took all of my harddrive and pictures with it. Luckily we know someone who can save my hard drive and get all of my writing files, pictures, music, school work, etc. off of it and save it. I guess I should have backed up my computer like my dad always told me to. Anyway. I need to figure out a posting situation soon because I don’t think I’m going to be buying a laptop for a little while- I have too many school loans to pay off! I’m posting from work now but the computer is so old that it doesn’t even know what a digital camera or memory card is! OH well, the computer did get me through 4 years of college and I beat it up pretty hard with my millions of papers and articles for the whit, not to mention countless internet surfing and movie watching hours. Time to move on!

Hopefully be back up to business tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Grr! One more thing to add to the list of things I need to get : ( Xmas isnt that far, is it?

Flu Season Already

October 2, 2008

Sorry I didn’t get around to posting yesterday. I wasn’t feeling very good last night at all and you will be able to tell by my carb only food choices after lunch. Two people at work were out with the flu so I am praying that I am fighting it off and not going to be sick with it. I feel a little better this morning but still not myself…

Here’s a recap of my meals yesterday. Tonights post will be much more interesting- I promise!!

Breakfast: A mug of joe to go, oatmeal, grapes and a plum.

Lunch:

Chicken soup from the caffe

Turkey rollups, pepper, carrots, tomato, and yogurt.

Dinner: cinnamon puffins

Two pieces of toast with jam

Then later in the night I got hungry and had these

Then this

and add another bowl of cereal. Oh boy! At least I was hungry I suppose…

It’s a beautiful day

October 1, 2008

Sorry for the U2 title but that is the first song that came on my iPod while taking my 6 mile run this morning. It was sunny and cool and I felt like I could have ran forever but this Clif bar was not enough and my stomach was ready for breakfast!!

On Tuesdays I have off and so I try to run a nice long run, enjoy breakfast and coffee while surfing the web, and then finish my workout with some lifting after breakfast digests.

This morning I was craving oatmeal but I was too hot after my run so I chose the typical Kashi Go Lean Crunch, cinnamon Life, organic skim and a huge banana. I swear I don’t have this all the time but its my breakfast of choice recently and holds me over really well. I also had two cups of coffee in my favorite snowman mug : )

Today was actually pretty lame. I lifted my arms and worked my abs then enjoyed an open faced turkey sandwich on wheat with mustard and tomatoes and carrots and a pickle on the side.

I also had Cinnamon Life (I apologize but I am trying to finish the box so I can open some Puffins. I am a cereal junkie and always have too many boxes open so I am trying to be less wasteful) and a big bag of grapes.

Scott and I made dinner and since it was still nice out we decided to grill. I had bbq, a sweet potato, and a homemade caesar salad with lite dressing.

I was sooo stuffed after eating this, but we went for a short walk and suddenly I was starving.

When I got home I had tea and Cinnamon Life with craisins. I may have also ate some candy corn!!

Then I made the mistake of eating directly out of the container. Homemade chocolate chocolate chip waterice. Tons of sugar I am sure but it is so delicious as is any homemade concotion from Sundaes- I am addicted ever since working there in high school. It closes soon so I have plans to get some pumpkin icecream and waterice this week before it closes. The only problem is that there other waterice and ice cream flavors are so delicious its always hard to pick what I really want!!!

Fell Asleep

September 30, 2008

Whoops- I definitely fell asleep unintentionally last night while reading so I didn’t get to post anything!

I did however get a nice walk in with my mom and I finally got to the store to pick up pumpkin and baking supplies so I can spend some quality time in the kitchen this weekend. I cant wait- I just love autumn and all of its apple and pumpkin dishes.

Anyway, lunch was fantastic but filling. I work in the corporate office for a family of Italian Restaurants as a marketing assistant. Luckily for me, the office is located behind one of our high end restaurants- and I get to chose fantastic seafood or Italian lunches! Yesterday I went with the “Erin”- a make my own dish of grilled shrimp and vegetables. The chef always changes up how it is made and yesterday included 5 HUGEEEEEE shrimp, zucchini, yellow squash, pepper, red onion, and asparagus. You wouldn’t think this dish would be filling but the portion size is huge and it is full of olive oil and seasonings (more olive oil than I need but its Italian and the chef knows how to make it taste delicious).

Last night I still wasn’t very hungry and the last thing I wanted was roast beef leftovers so I made a simple bowl of peach yogurt, Kashi Go Lean, some Cinnamon Life, and a huge bannana.

After dinner I munched on more Cinnamon Life and some candy corn which I couldn’t resist because it makes me think of autumn. P.S. The pumpkins are my favorite but the chocolate ones have really grown on me lol! I also had some sleepytime tea which is probably the reason I fell asleep while reading. At least the marketing is no lie!

No more rain!

September 29, 2008

Finally the sun was out this morning! After a few rainy days in a row it was so nice to wake up to some sunshine.

I started the day with a 25 minute interval run. I prefer to run in the morning because it wakes me up and I get too tired after work to think about running.  I do plan on lifting my legs and working my abs this evening, and hopefully getting in a walk at the park!

Started my day off with a cup of coffee and a big mug to take to work. Coffee is one of my favorite things in the morning and it seriously is one of my favorite parts of my day. I do need to try ways to use less sugar though- I have already cut back on the amount I use but I’d like to work my way to no sugar or maybe a natural sweetner thats a bit healthier.

When I got to work I made a bowl of instant apple oatmeal and snacked on a plum. I ate all the grapes this afternoon!

We get lunch from the Caffe today but I won’t be able to take any pictures since I eat with my coworkers…sorry!!

Thunderstorms and comfort food

September 29, 2008

I knew my soup would not hold me over long and so I had a snack of cinnamon apples and half a Blueberry Clif bar. I have to say I still prefer the taste of the Z bars over the normal Clif bars…but they do a great job of holding me over on runs.

After being out for a little an awful thunderstorm started and I got completely drenched en route to my car. Luckily it was a night of comfort food- my dad cooked one of my favorites roast beef!

I didn’t get any pictures but I had about 3/4 of a roast beef sandwich on a hoagie roll with horseradish sauce. I also had a side salad and lots of cooked onions because I love them. And of course, no sandwich is complete without a pickle…even a hot roast beef sandwich needs a pickle on the side!

Why haven’t more deils started making whole wheat hoagie rolls? I know that you can get them at places like Subway or Quiznos but I cant find any whole wheat long rolls at any of the delis or bakeries near me! It would make my dinner so much better : )

For dessert I had a spoonful of Friendly’s peanut butter cup icecream and then some mint tea.

I also wanted munchies while I read the book What to Eat which I love!!

It started like this (Cinnamon Life and raisins)

But then I did this:

Topped it with some homemade trailmix which includes Kashi Go Lean, craisins, dark chocolate m & ms, pb chips, dark chocolate raisinets, and some almond slivers. Oops! ; )

My First Post

September 28, 2008

I am so excited to start food blogging! I have been inspired by so many other blogs that I have been browsing through the past month or so and I decided it was finally time to start my own. While I am not a registered dietician I keep up on all things health related. I am not trying to lose weight, just maintain my current weight and make sure that I am fueling my body for all of the daily exercise I do. You will definitely be seeing that I enjoy my sweets and don’t deprive myself of some of my favorite things: ice cream, chocolate, and old bay fries with cheese!

Anyway…I started the morning with a 4 mile run. I don’t usually fuel up if I am running 4 miles or less because my body doesn’t need it.

After my run I had two cups of coffee (with milk and sugar in the raw) and then a bowl of Cinnamon Life, Kashi Go Lean, and Kashi Go Lean crunch with a huge banana and skim milk. I loooooooooove cereal!!!

For lunch I made a packet of potato cheddar soup and added broccoli and peas in it for some added veggies. I also stole some sips of the White Chocolate Mocha I picked up for my mom at Starbucks while food shopping : )
